Vintage Wearable Art Broderie Perse Jacket

This vintage 1980s lined jacket is a statement piece. These days it could easy be worn with jeans & a turtleneck tee or a crisp white shirt. It is made with peach coloured pure wool crepe that has been channel quilted on the front, sleeves & echo quilted on the back. The applique on the front is created using a very old technique called Broderie Perse; a design is fussy cut from a printed fabric then sewn to the garment. The same printed rayon fabric is used as bands on the front, back & sleeves. A third co-ordinating fabric, cotton batik, is introduced on the sleeves & the back yoke. The banding piping is silk or wool crepe. The jacket has metallic buttons & loop closures. Constructed to fit 38C bust. Gently worn. OOP pattern. Dry Clean.
