Chaqueta Reverso
For the 2018 Favourite Designer Challenge Carroll chose Antonio Marras known for his garments created with an assemblage of different materials.
Sticking to her resolution to shop her own shelves she chose:
- Embossed suede cloth remnants
- Printed rayon yardage
- The welt pockets section of a raw silk blazer
- Upholstery scallop trim (model puts hands in pockets)
- Piece of Point de Venice lace
- Black Swarovski crystals
The printed rayon is backed with three layers of fusible interfacing to give it a hand similar to the raw silk & suede. The scallop trim was applied to cover the horizontal seams. The lace was draped on the jacket then fussy cut to suit & hand stitched in place. The Swarovski crystals were fused to the centre of the lace flowers.
Carroll decided a taffeta lining would best balance the jacket weight. Was there suitable taffeta in her stash, of course not! However, she had a vintage shibori kimono that was the perfect weight.
